I am back to remind one and all about the PTA Family Day 2011 which is approaching...Well, its less than two weeks now before the 16th of July 2011. If you haven't bought your coupons yet, please buy some and if you have bought some, please buy more. Get your friends to buy it. Get your family members to buy them too. The more coupons we sell, the more things we can do for the school. Rest assured, students at the end of the day will benefit from this fund-raising event. So, the message here is to sell all the coupons...SU Boleh! Help your school, help yourself.
On a different note, could we also get some sponsors...I am sure there are parents out there who are willing to help the school or students who can let your parents know that the school needs your help...Let us make sure that this year's Family Day will be one to remember. Remember there are a lot of things going on that day and one of the highlights this year is the SU's Got Talent 2011 which is the all-new talent show (no resemblance to the series that you see on television), a show which promises to showcase up and rising talents among students. If you don't know what's the show all about, please see Amanda Yeo and other crew members and ask them how you can participate or show off your talent.

The Hall Yesterday!

This is in relation to the many things that were going on yesterday in and out of school. As many would have probably heard on FaceBook as well as from friends who were in school: one of the lights in the hall was up in smoke yesterday morning as Tae-Kwan Do was taking place in the hall. Due to the swift action by students, the Fire Brigade Department arrived in school to check on the small incident that happened. The contractors were called in to check on the problem and it has been identified as a minor problem with the lighting system so nothing to worry. The problem will be fixed as soon as possible and no the hall was not on fire and did not burn down. Here's some proof as to what happened to the lights!

Well, yesterday many things happened in and out of school and one of the things that took place yesterday from 8am to 2pm was the SMKSU Staff Development at TUC Lakeside Campus. A bus load of teachers departed the school in the morning, heading towards TUC Lakeside Campus in the PJS area. Upon registration, teachers went for breakfast and then the first staff development session commenced soon after. The topic of the staff development yesterday was Teaching Creatively 2 merely because the last session that we, the staff of SMKSU had with Mr. Kent Tan from the Taylor's School of Design who also happens to be the Deputy Dean was entitled Teaching Creatively. Overall, the session was a very interactive and fun session. Here are some pics from TUC Lakeside (refer to the pics above). Will be back with another post real soon.

Well, im back once again with a post related to the SU PTA Family Day 2011 which is due to take place on the 16th of July 2011 from 8am till 2pm in SU. I'm sure classes have started the ball rolling by choosing what they want to contribute for Family Day 2011: may it be games or sales of foodstuff.
In relation to that, with great pleasure i would like to announce the introduction of SU's very own talent show which promises to showcase the latest sensations in SU in an open category where one can show off their talents. It is a showcase of the best and most creative talents in SU. So, i'm sure you get the idea that we are looking for SU's Top Talent.
This showcase of talents promises to be different because it opens a new venue for students to show off their skills in any aspect (based on some guidelines) during the Family Day 2011. Spectators will judge their choice of the best and most creative talents by voting for them using the Family Day coupons which will be distributed very soon. That's right each Family Day 2011 coupon booklet which costs RM10 will determine the winner with the top prize clinched by the talents that obtain the highest amount of coupons in terms of value. So come join in the festivities that day by taking part in the latest talent showcase in SU this year. The show will be held at the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama. Entry is FREE but Remember to vote for your favourite talents.

Welcome Puan Rahanim Bt Abdul Rahim, New SU Principal

After such a long time, i finally had some time to update the blog today to let everyone know about an important event that took place this morning in school - arrival of our school's new principal. This post is also to welcome our new SU Principal, Puan Rahanim Binti Abdul Rahim. She arrived in school this morning and took part in the SU assembly for the first time. I believe that all the wondering and pondering of who is going to be SU's new Principal can finally be put to rest as Puan Rahanim is here. Anyhow, it is time for SU to move ahead under the leadership of our new Principal. Welcome to SU, Puan Rahanim. I personally believe that you will be able to lead and guide SU with your experience. Majlis Persaraan Pengetua Cemerlang Encik Mothar Bin Jaafar

It's been quite a while since i actually had the time to sit and blog about the school but hey, i'm still around and this post is to let everyone know about an important event which is taking place tomorrow morning at 730am. Well, 25th of February 2011 is the day that our beloved Pengetua Cemerlang, Encik Mothar Bin Jaafar will retire. The event will see speeches by the Head Prefect, Senior Assistant, PTA Chairman, Education Department Representatives and our guest of honour for the day, Encik Mothar himself. There will also be performances by students plus prize-giving and a grand send-off for our beloved Pengetua Cemerlang at the end of the event tomorrow. So, students please show your support and turn up to join in the festivities tomorrow at our Dewan Perdana PIBG. There will also be a lot of VIPs from the Selangor Education Department as well as the District Education Office. To Encik Mothar, thank you for being a very understanding and approachable Pengetua Cemerlang. You have guided many of us as teachers and shown true leadership qualities throughout your time here in Subang Utama. As a teacher working under your administration, i have learnt many good things and you have been there to listen to our grouses too. As a friend, you have at many occasions, sat down with the guys in school and shared your lighter moments with us. For everything you have done, i salute you and wish you all the best. Thank you.

This post is a gentle reminder to all parents that the PIBG 20th Annual General Meeting is exactly one week from today. It is going to be held on the 20th of February 2011. Registration counters will open at 1030am and the meeting will commence at 11am with speeches delivered by our Pengetua Cemerlang, Encik Mothar bin Jaafar and Yang Dipertua PIBG, Encik Rudy Yong Yek Yeau.
The PIBG has been actively involved in helping out the school over the years under the guidance of our PIBG Yang Dipetua, Encik Rudy Yong Yek Yeau in many areas may it be student's welfare and social development, academics, co-curricular activities, ICT, maintenance and beautification of school. The PIBG has committed a lot to upgrading the Dewan Perdana PIBG for the comfort of students and teachers with the installation of new energy-saving lights and the mist-cooling system plus the upgrading of the stage flooring. The students' toilets have also been upgraded to five star toilets plus the basketball court and volleyball court too have beeen given a facelift, thanks to the PIBG.
Our PIBG needs the support of parents in many ways to help the school and its students. So, please make some time for us next Sunday and turn up for the PIBG AGM. We are counting on your participation and the AGM that day will also see the election of committee members for the 2011/2012 period, so your vote also plays an important part. Low Jian Hui, ex-5 Gammarian won the IQ Marathon: The Battle for Scholarship jointly organized by KBU International College and Y! Magazine. Thanks to Mr. Jacob and some of his other SU teachers, Jian Hui's decision to take part in this IQ Marathon proved to be fruitful when he emerged as the winner of the Grand Final as the Top IQ Talent on the 18th of December 2010. Jian Hui walked away with a full scholarship to study for a 3 + 0 UK degree programme at KBU plus a notebook, cash prize, crystal trophy and a certificate. More details to be revealed soon after an exclusive interview with Jian Hui. So, one of our students does us proud again. SU Boleh!

Now something for the rest of the students in SU. Well its less than a week before the new school term for 2011 commences on the 3rd of January 2011. Of course, the first day of school will begin with the assembly being held at the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama before lessons begin that day.
A reminder to students to make sure that your school uniform, hairdo and etc. complies with the school rules and regulations. I'm not going to elaborate any further as i'm sure all of you will be looking forward to coming back to school and i'm positive that you know what to do. So, just make sure that you adhere to the school rules and regulations and everything will be fine. Anyway, welcome back to school. See you all next Monday!

First Day of School for the Form 1 Students

Hello everyone. Its good to be back after a long absence of leave filled with loads of things to do. Well anyway this post is about the Form One Orientation Day which is due to be held this Friday, the 31st of December 2010 at 8am at the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama.
The Orientation Day programme will include a series of speeches and briefings beneficial to the new members of the ever-growing SU family. The newly-registered 279 students will then adjourn to their respective new Form One classrooms where they will spend some time with their class teachers plus not to forget, the students will also receive their Form One textbooks.
The school administrators, teachers and school staff will be there to welcome the students and parents that day. Students will be able to check their respective class placements at the Block B classroom which is right next to the Dewan Perdana PIBG as they arrive that day. Once again, SU welcomes the new Form One students.

Hari Graduasi Tingkatan Lima 2010

As posted on our school FB page, come November 18th 2010, the school will be hosting a special ceremony for all the current Form Five students which is the Graduation Day ceremony. A special assembly will commence at 7.30am with all the Form Five students gathering in the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama dressed in full uniform (don't forget your ties), the assembly will see our Pengetua Cemerlang addressing the students and the presentation of certificates to all the Form Five students to signify the completion of their Form Five studies. Please come in full force to let the school appreciate you plus after the assembly, there will be a briefing for the SPM examinations followed by the arrangement of the examination hall for SPM. Recently, the English Choral Speaking competition, which is an annual inter-school event organized by Subang Parade was held. Out of the 21 secondary schools that participated , our school Choral Speaking Team emerged victoriously beating nine other finalists with their very energetic and lively performance entitled 'CC Teenagers'. Judges were bowled over by our school team who went back with RM1,500 worth of cash prizes and a trophy which was presented by Phoster Sageh, Subang Parade Assistant Manager of Marketing and Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne. The schools that performed were judged based on the originality of their script, intonation, facial expression and clarity. So, way to go SU Choral Speaking Team, you all have made the school proud and may the best conductor win too...

In less than a week, our first ever musical drama production of the Phantom of the Opera will be unveiled before your very eyes during the PIBG Carnival Day 2010 Dinner. The students involved in this musical drama have been working very hard to present this 20-minute musical which will be one of the highlights of the night apart from the Talent Quest 2010 Finals. So, if you have not bought your tickets at RM80 per person, please do so. The proceeds of the dinner tickets sold will go to the PIBG Funds which are used to benefit SU students in many ways. Now as most of you know by now that the PIBG will be holding a PIBG Carnival 2010 on the 10th of July 2010. The Carnival will see a Charity Golf Tournament, Treasure Hunt and Talent Quest 2010 and Dinner happening. This post is to inform one and all about the Charity Golf 2010 tournament which will take place on the 8th of July 2010 at 745am at the Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia in Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Forms can be obtained from Madam Rose Chai, Senior Assistant of SU or Puan Tak Pek Ngoh, a teacher at SU. Or alternatively you can email us at smsubangutama@gmail.com or pibgsmksu@gmail.com to obtain a copy of the Charity Golf 2010 entry forms.
We will also be rolling out the dinner tickets soon. Students and parents who are interested in attending the dinner which will see the unveiling of the Phantom of the Opera musical performed by the very talented students of SU plus our homegrown talents performing for the Talent Quest 2010 finals that night and of course no dinner is complete without food, glorious food. Tickets are RM80 per person and RM800 per table, being sold on a first come, first serve basis. So do not think twice, get your tickets from Monday onwards and book a table early. Talent Quest, Phantom of the Opera, Treasure Hunt and Charity Golf Tournament

Here I am to let all of you know about the PIBG Carnival 2010 which will be held on the 10th of July 2010. In conjunction with this Carnival, there are three main events that will be held particularly, the Charity Golf Tournament, the Treasure Hunt and the Dinner. Tickets for the Dinner will cost RM80 and it will include the Talent Quest finals plus a treat for fans of musicals, the Phantom of the Opera performed by our very own home-grown talents plus of course, food glorious food. Meanwhile, in the morning, the Treasure Hunt which is organized by Time-Out Solutions Sdn Bhd will see two categories which are the open and closed categories. Each participating car with 4 treasure seekers will have to pay RM320 (RM80 x 4). The Treasure will involve the Subang Jaya - Sunway - Puchong route and it promises to be as exciting as last year's Treasure Hunt. For more details, please talk to your class teachers or Puan Rose Chai, our Senior Assistant. As for the musical, scripts have been given out to the main characters. More will be given out to the other characters this morning. It will be a 20-minute long musical incorporating songs from the Andre Llyod Weber's The Phantom of the Opera sung by our cast. After a long gap, i am back with a short post to let all of you know that the Hari Kecemerlangan will be held at the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama this Saturday, the 8th of May, morning. This function will be graced and officiated by His Honourable Encik Loh Seng Kok, Ex-MP for Kelana Jaya. Students who have excelled in the PMR and SPM examinations last year will be receiving their awards from our guest of honour. There would also be some performances by the Unit Persembahan on that day. I will be back with another post soon.

Program Sesi Dialog Hati ke Hati

Im guessing that everyone is savouring the deserved one-day break today after yesterday's Annual Sports Day 2010 which was held at the MPSJ Stadium from 8am to 130pm. As for my post this evening, it is to inform everyone that the HEM Unit of SMK Subang Utama with the assistance of the PIBG SMK Subang Utama plus the Counselling and Discipline teachers of SMK Subang Utama will be organizing a Programme called the 'Sesi Dialog Hati ke Hati'.
This programme will be officiated by the YDP PIBG, Mr Rudy Yong Yek Yeau and there will be two special guests who will be speaking to the students at this dialogue session. The school is very honoured to host this programme which will see the Subang Jaya District Chief of Police, Tuan ACP Zainal Abidin Bin Haji Abu Bakar and also Tuan Haji Zailan bin Wagimin, the Head of Sector for the Psychology and Counselling Unit of the Selangor Education Department joining us to speak to the students and parents as well as PIBG members who have been invited to attend this programme. The programme will take place from 9am to 12noon at the Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama tomorrow, the 20th of April 2010.

Hoe Kit, Kenneth C and Nicholas C...ICT Tech Team

Another short post from me to give some recognition to Hoe Kit, Kenneth and Nicholas for helping Mr Tan Wooi Choong and me at the Computer Lab. They have been helping out with the repairs of the computers at the Computer Lab plus some network troubleshooting for the school office. They have also helped out in getting the two computers in the staff room to work. I believe that they should be given due credit for their contribution and we are glad that they are there to help us in their free time. The ICT Unit would also like to thank the administrators and teachers for allowing these students to help us out during their free time. They have been doing a wonderful job and we as the teacher advisors are proud to have such talented young people in our team.

Just a short post to congratulate the Photography Unit for organizing an insightful Photography Workshop yesterday. The photography workshop was held at the SMKSU Computer Lab 1 from 1230 to 230pm yesterday, Friday the 16th of April 2010. About 30 students from the Photography Unit attended the talk armed with their DSLRs and Digital Cameras. Mr Kavid from Nikon Malaysia was kind enough to spend two hours with our students to give them some tips on basic tips of photography. Two other teachers joined us for this session and the students had a wonderful experience listening to the talk. Photos from the session will be uploaded soon. Mr Kavid will also be helping out the school in organizing a photo shoot / hands-on training session for the students soon. Thank you once again to the Photography Unit President and her team for organizing the talk. The Photography Unit presented the guest speaker with a school keychain and a 4Gb Thumbrive. So, don't you think it's time for those of you who are interested in photography to join our Photography Unit....even if you have a compact digital camera.

The auditions for the Phantom of the Opera has been going on for the past two days, not forgetting the first one that was held last Saturday and i would say that 'tis going rather well. A lot of hidden talents were revealed amongst students during the audition sessions. Plus, we are also getting good response from the students who are interested in joining the crew.
As for those of you who are still in the dark about the Phantom of the Opera, this musical drama will be held on the 10th of July 2010 during the PIBG Carnival Day Dinner at night. It will not only be one of the highlights of the evening but a 30-minute song, dance and acting routine that is set to blow everyone away.
The candidates for the roles have been more or less zeroed in. But we have something in store for them. Well, it is a surprise and it will be revealed to the chosen one(s) in due time...very soon as i promised some of those who auditioned that i will sleep on it tonight and let them know tomorrow...Anyway, it is a collective decision made by my superiors and PIBG members too so please be patient and wait for the announcement to be made real soon. Anyhow, i applaud those who auditioned for the roles, you have shown tremendous talent and potential. So, wait for it anyway and the Phantom, Christine, Raoul, Mme Giry, Meg Giry and La Carlotta will be revealed soon! Bravo, Bravo, Bravisimmo!

It's been almost a month and at last, i have time to sit down to post this. My PC crashed in the past week and ive been flooded with other school work plus invigilating the ABRSM examinations in school but here I am and this post is to highlight the SU Badminton Squad. Selections for the Under 18 and Under 15 team has already taken place and the team has been training rigourously under the guidance of Mr. Rudy Yong Yek Yeau, our PTA chairman. For the last two weeks, the squad had the privilege of using the Badminton Court at Sunway Lagoon Club. The squad started training here from the 10th of March 2010 (230pm - 5pm) with the assistance of Mr. Rudy and one of our other Badminton trainers. The team will be training here for the next three weeks. The SU Badminton Squad has been given a makeover with the 50 new Dry-Fit T-Shirts sponsored for the whole school team and the reserves. Thanks to Mr. Rudy Yong Yek Yeau once again as well as EMX Cellular. The T-Shirts will be given out during the school assembly on the 22nd of March 2010. Also, a big thanks to Sunway Lagoon Club for hosting the training venue FOC!

I'm sure that the girls out there will love the pictures that i have posted this time round but on a more serious note, this is for all the male students. A letter was given out to all male students today (12/2/2010) to remind them about the rules and regulations regarding their hair.

According to the school rules:

So, when the school reopens after the CNY break, male students have been advised to get proper haircuts and avoid meeting the school barber. Yes, it is official that the school administrators and the PIBG have agreed to employ the services of a barber to cut the hairs of students who break these rules mentioned above. Haircut sessions will commence from the 22nd to the 24th of February 2010. Please do not expect a Robert Pattinson hairdo or even an Adam Lambert punk do as the school barber's style will be one that adheres to the rules and regulations of the school.

I am back early this Wednesday morning to give all of you a heads up on the upcoming Larian Lebuhraya. The Larian Lebuhraya 2010 will be held on the 6th of February 2010 which is next Saturday by the way. This event will commence at 7.30am and end at 1.10pm in SMKSU. That day will see the upper forms and the lower forms coming together for one purpose in mind: to RUN! A fairly colourful and meaningful affair for members of the sports houses as this is when students can earn points for their respective sports houses. So, get on your running shoes and start training. Earn points for your sports houses. Get ready for the 6th of February. I will be back with another post real soon...

The 19th AGM of SMKSU PIBG

As mentioned in the title, here are some pictures from the 19th Annual General Meeting of the PIBG which was held last Saturday in the school hall at 2pm. The meeting was a great success that day with the new polling system introduced that enabled members of the floor to cast their votes using a ballot system for the major posts contested that day. Although time consuming, many will agree that the general election style balloting system is a fair and square system plus it is a very transparent one too. Mr. Rudy was elected unanimously as the Yang Di Pertua of the PIBG although there was a three-way contest. Meanwhile, Puan Firdaus Abdul Khalid emerged the winner in the Naib YDP's post. The AJK PIBG posts were taken up by some new faces in addition to some of the familiar faces. Welcome aboard. The new PIBG team also comprises of teachers in the school and they assumed their positions in the new 2010/2011 PIBG team as the YDP PIBG requested the new team to come forward onto the stage once the election process was over. PIBG Annual Fees

The reason i am posting this message is to inform parents as well as teachers about the PIBG Annual Fees which is RM50 per family. The RM50 can be paid up to the respective class teachers and as mentioned by the PIBG YDP, the PIBG Annual Fees which is a one-off payment will be put to good use and for the benefit of the students in SMK Subang Utama. Among the things being planned by the PIBG this year are the upgrading of the girl's toilet, the upgrading of the Dewan Perdana PIBG, the upgrading of the school field, the upgrading of the school computer lab, sponsorship of school-related activities plus the SMS project and the revival of the CCTV system in the school. So if each family contributes RM50, it will be a great help to not only the PIBG but also the school. In the end, the PIBG gives importance in helping the school to provide a conducive learning environment for the students. Help us help your children. So, please contribute this RM50 as quick as possible to the respective class teachers. The PIBG really appreciates and is thankful for your kind contribution. What Happened Last Week in SU?

Here i am on a Sunday morning, it's the day before the second week of school begins. Yesterday i managed to pop in to school for a bit and bravo SUians!, many of you were there taking part in the co-curricular activities planned. I saw the Basketball team's newest members from Form One training with some of the senior students since their teacher was away for some other important duties, i saw the volleyball trainer training the volleyball team, the Scouts were there too. I started off my short photography tour by going to our Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama. There was a large group here and to my amazement, the response for the school Badminton Club was very good. As announced on Monday during our First School Assembly, Badminton is one of SU's niche areas. With the aid of our school PIBG chairman, Mr. Rudy Yong and fellow PIBG member, Pn. Firdaus and a couple of expert trainers and from SU, Mr. Ang and Pn. Yue, the first Badminton Club activity was being carried out. This is not only due to their hardwork and commitmment but planning. The Badminton Club Advisors and our PIBG members who are helping SU in this niche area had a meeting last Wednesday to plan things out properly before the actual activity or activities are carried out. Proper planning is the best thing to do anyway especially if it is the school's niche area. Plus, even our school board of administrators met last Wednesday to plan a lot of things for SU. So, i am sure you get the idea that planning is very important. So, support our Badminton Club. Plus, give the other clubs and societies and uniform units, some support too. I also walked around the other parts of school and i was amazed at the many other groups that were there too. The new 'Cricket' team were there and many turned up to support and take part in Cricket under the guidance of the trainer as well as Pn. Puspha. The Ping Pong team was training just outside the Hall under the supervision of their teacher advisor. With other clubs like the Athletics Club having their meet too. On a short note, the AGMs for the clubs, societies and uniform units plus the sports houses were held last Thursday. I will be posting some pictures from that day too. A Wednesday - Ah Ha! The first and second days of school are over with 208 more to go for the year 2010. So, what happened on the first day of school anyway. At SU, we kicked off the morning affairs with an official assembly where all students, teachers and administrators attended. We started off with the singing of the National Anthem, Selangor State Song and School Song followed by the Rukunegara pledge and Doa for the Muslim students. Then, the teacher on duty welcomed the students back and made 3 announcements that morning. This was followed by a speech delivered by our Senior Assistant Academic Affairs, Puan Rose Chai who touched on the performance of students in the PMR 2009 examinations plus the discipline among students. Before the assembly ended, Encik Mothar bin Jaafar, our Pengetua Cemerlang gave a short and meaningful speech mainly touching on the importance of discipline. With the end of the assembly, Form Five students went to their respective classes with the form teachers The division of classes for students in Forms 3 and 4 were carried out. I went for my first English class, 4 Sigma. Now, we were told that lessons should go on as usual even on the first day so i started my first lesson with a simple speaking activity and explanation of the SPM English Examination Paper Format. Anyway, my next post will be some pics from the first day of school. I'm off now to get ready for the third day of school. More posts to follow. Keep your eyes on this blog!

Just before we begin a new day at school, let me tell you about the so-called 'Secret Project' that i was working on with Mr. Tan Wooi Choong - the 'Secret' was revealed on the Form One Orientation Day. The parents and students who came that day were handed over a copy of the School Prospectus. Yes, that's right, SU has its own Prospectus. It basically contains essential info about the school and we will be giving it out in stages to all SU students soon. So, cherish it when you receive it. Thanks to the brainchild of Encik Mothar bin Jaafar, our Pengetua Cemerlang, we were able to come up with this one of a kind prospectus which i believe is a first for a secondary school in our country. Many kudos to Puan Rose Chai, our Senior Assistant for guiding us and going through the many drafts of the School Prospectus, other Senior Assistants, all the GKMPs, teachers and PIBG members who fed us with the relevant information. Tomorrow, i will be revealing the look of the book...so wait and see!

Not that i have many fans out there who are reading this blog but just to let you all know that i'm back. This time, i promise to blog more often so that you all can read about what is going on in SU and come January 2010, this blog will undergo a facelift. Hmm, sounds like site surgery is in progress. Anyway, the point of my post this time is to let you all know that the Orientation for the Form 1 students will be held on the 31st of December 2009. I am sure that the SU freshies will be eager to partake in the activities that have been planned for them plus their parents will be able to find out what SU has to offer their children. Administrators, PIBG members and teachers will be present in full force that day to join in the Orientation Day, which i believe is a very important day for students joining SU. Form 5 Graduation Day 2009

13th of November 2009 will be a day to remember for the Fifth Formers in SU. Commencing at 7.30am, at the SU Dewan Perdana PIBG, the Form 5 Graduation Day ceremony will be held. The students will be honoured with certificates from the school to mark their successful completion of their Form 5 studies. After this ceremony is over at 10am. The fifth formers will then be required to partake in the arrangements of tables & chairs in preparation of their upcoming SPM Examinations. They will also be handed over their examination slips and a special talk regarding the preparations for the SPM Examinations will take place. All the above activities will be held from 10.30am till 12.30noon. So, 13th November 2009 will be a day to cherish for all Fifth Formers. Please be there in full force...May the Force be with us come Friday!

Just to wish all the Muslims in SU, Selamat Hari Raya. Happy Holidays to the rest of you. On behalf of the school administrators, Eid greetings to all the Muslim administrators, teachers, students as well as PIBG members.

Eid mubarak is a traditional Muslim greeting reserved for use on the festivals of Eid ul-Adha and Eid ul-Fitr. The phrase translates into English as "blessed festival", and can be paraphrased as "may you enjoy a blessed festival". Muslims wish each other Eid Mubarak after performing the Eid prayer. This celebration continues until the end of the day, and continues a further three days.
Eid refers to the occasion itself, and Mubarak is 'may it become good for you'.

Boy's Toilet Upgrade...

With the Hari Raya hols around the corner and the exams going on, i haven't been blogging much these days but if at all there are any announcements or important stories, you all know that the blog will have it first. I am sure the boys know the condition of the toilet in Block C and how desperately it needs to be upgraded. Therefore, with the assistance of the PIBG and your contribution during the SU Family Day 2009, the PIBG and the school administrators have decided to go for another school toilet upgrade and this will involve the boy's toilet located on the Ground Floor of Block C. During the holidays, the work on the toilet renovation will commence. So, boys when you get to use the newly-renovated toilet, please use it wisely and don't vandalise your property. Otherwise, you will have to hold it! If you get what i mean. Anyway the point is, take care of the facilities provided for you because you enabled it. Remember well what it looks like now (see the pic above), think about what it's going to become, so take good care of what is to come. Remember the force is strong with you. Don't be tempted by the dark side...

Steps taken by the school to handle the A(H1N1)

A letter dated 3rd September 2009 has been given out to all students informing parents and students about the steps and measures taken by the school to handle the A(H1N1) in SMK Subang Utama. To curb the spread of this influenza and to nip it in the bud: the school authorities recommend that students maintain a good sense of self-cleanliness at all times during the course of the day in school. One can use a mask if at all they are having symptoms of cough or flu to prevent it from spreading to other students. Wash your hands regularly especially after sneezing or coughing. If you are down with fever, please see the doctor and rest at home. The school authorities wish to let the parents and students know that all the toilets in the school have been equipped with hand sanitizers. Plus, the school has taken the precaution of equipping itself with two thermometers to take temperature readings of students from time to time.
However, on top of this, the school authorities would also like to request that parents buy the face masks for their children if at all they need to use one.

KENYATAAN KETUA PENGARAH PELAJARAN MALAYSIA

MENGHADAPI WABAK INFLUENZA A (H1N1) SEMASA PEPERIKSAAN AWAM TAHUN 2009

Adalah dimaklumkan bahawa Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) amat memandang serius berhubung penularan wabak Influenza A (H1N1) kepada masyarakat khususnya di kalangan murid-murid sekolah. Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Kebangsaan Antara Kementerian Mengenai Pandemik H1N1 Bil. 2/2009 yang dipengerusikan oleh YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin bin Mohd. Yassin, Timbalan Perdana Menteri pada 4 Ogos 2009 telah membuat keputusan bahawa pelaksanaan peperiksaan awam tetap diteruskan mengikut jadual sebagaimana yang telah disiarkan dalam akhbar tempatan pada 5 Ogos 2009. Maklumat peperiksaan awam tahun 2009 adalah seperti berikut:

•Situasi kedua, murid yang menunjukkan tanda-tanda dijangkiti wabak Influenza A (H1N1) akan dikenalpasti oleh guru sekolah sebelum peperiksaan dan akan diasingkan dari murid-murid yang sihat untuk menduduki peperiksaan di bilik khas di pusat peperiksaan di sekolah.
•Situasi ketiga, jika penularan wabak tidak dapat dibendung hanya murid yang menduduki peperiksaan sahaja diminta hadir ke sekolah, manakala murid lain diberi cuti sehingga peperiksaan tamat.

KPM telah membuat persediaan rapi termasuklah bekerjasama dengan pihak Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia bagi menangani wabak ini.

KPM memerlukan maklumat sebenar dari calon agar pemantauan dan bantuan sewajarnya dapat diberikan kepada calon. KPM memohon pihak sekolah agar sentiasa peka terhadap kesihatan calon dan menyalurkan maklumat calon kepada bilik gerakan. KPM akan mengoperasikan bilik gerakan di peringkat Pusat dan Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri serta Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah seminggu sebelum peperiksaan bermula.

Saya menasihatkan pihak pentadbir sekolah untuk meningkatkan tahap kebersihan murid-murid dan sekolah agar penularan Influenza A (H1N1) dapat dikawal. Di sekolah, pengetua, guru besar dan guru bertugas dikehendaki membuat pemeriksaan sebelum peperiksaan bermula untuk membolehkan murid sihat diasingkan dari murid yang menunjukkan gejala wabak ini. Calon yang menunjukkan gejala wabak atau telah dijangkiti wabak akan dibantu dengan membekalkan topeng muka semasa peperiksaan.

Saya bagi pihak KPM menyeru dan menasihatkan supaya semua ibu bapa sentiasa peka dan mengikut panduan penjagaan kesihatan serta mengambil langkah-langkah pencegahan untuk mengelak virus ini dari terus merebak dan mengancam kesihatan anak-anak kita. Sekiranya anak-anak menunjukkan gejala dijangkiti wabak ini, segeralah ke hospital untuk mendapatkan rawatan.

Kepada para petugas peperiksaan juga diingatkan agar mematuhi arahan dan mengambil langkah pencegahan mengikut garis panduan yang ditetapkan oleh Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia.

Kepada para pelajar yang akan menduduki peperiksaan pula, saya menasihatkan agar menjaga kesihatan diri semoga tidak dijangkiti penyakit ini dan dapat menduduki peperiksaan.

Saya mendoakan semua calon dilindungi Allah supaya dapat menduduki peperiksaan dengan jayanya. Manakala bagi warga sekolah dan para petugas peperiksaan bersama-samalah kita berdoa agar dijauhi dari wabak ini.

Just a quick report on yesterday's brief assembly which was held in conjunction with the launch of the Merdeka Month celebrations. The assembly kicked off with the choir group leading the students in the singing of the National Anthem, State Song and School Song. This was followed by a speech delivered by Puan Rose Chai, the Senior Assistant of Academic Affairs. After this was the main event itself where the Performing Arts Unit in cooperation with some Uniformed Units and the Prefects presented a medley of song and dance routine which depicted the importance of Merdeka. As the title says it all, this prestigious ceremony will be held at our Dewan Perdana PIBG SMK Subang Utama come 1st of August 2009 at 8am sharp. Parents, teachers and those involved will witness the installation ceremony. Rest assured, a colourful and eventful ceremony will take place. So, good luck to the prefects who will be taking over their new portfolios. We, teachers know how hard you all have worked to maintain order and help out in any way you all can. After a long hiatus, i am back and this time to blog about our teachers. SU teachers had a fun day out attending the 7th Staff Development session which took place at TUC Sunway yesterday. We gathered at the school in the morning and the bulk of us boarded the bus which was hired courtesy of TUC. Upon arrival, we were treated to a scrumptious breakfast. After a short introduction, the staff development session on 'Creative Thinking' began. The session was conducted by Mr Ken Tan who happens to be the Deputy Programme Director for the School of Art. The teachers were taken through a slideshow presentation which incorporated activities and an interesting video clip. It was a fun session where teachers got to explore their creative side and to think out of the box. Here are some pics from the session:

5 Sigma is the winning class...Family Day 2009

This morning was the prize-giving ceremony for the SMKSU PIBG Family Day 2009. The ceremony began with a short and sweet speech given by our YDP PIBG Mr Rudy Yong Yek Yeau. Thanks to the students who worked hard alongside teachers, staff, administrators and also the PIBG for enabling the Family Day 2009 to be a highly-successful event. In terms of sales on Family Day 2009, based on the coupons collected, 5 Sigma emerged the winners in the class category. Sigmaians truly portrayed the spirit of SU Boleh by doing a multitude of tasks. They not only collected the most coupons which equalled to the highest sales but they also produced the winner of the individual sales category as well. They not only sold Tomato Rice with Chicken with Ice Blended Bubble Tea but also hosted the Table Talk Game which incorporated a unique Q and A session where the person who answers first gets to pour ice cold water on the other participant. 5 Sigma was also a hit in terms of their Hair Saloon which involved Sigmaians giving a hair do-over for other students. It was a hit. Many were spotted in school with their colourful hair makeover, thanks to 5 Sigma. 5 Sigma also manned the Music DJ which was the Song Request stall where students were able to request for songs. Bravo 5 Sigma, you have shown that SU is capable of anything. Also a shout out to Pn. Sulo for being there for 5 Sigma and assisting them in emerging as the winning class for Family Day 2009 in terms of sales.

Opening Ceremony of the Family Day

I am back, this very morning. The whole school is having fun with the bunch of activities and sales going on outside. The crowd is building up. Sales are up. What more can we say but a very big THANK YOU to all those who have supported us and are supporting us now as I blog. Anyway, back to business, this morning's assembly started off with speeches by our Pengetua Cemerlang, Encik Mothar Bin Jaafar followed by our YDP PIBG, Mr. Rudy Yong Yek Yeau and our guest of honour, Hon. Tuan Haji Yusuff HM Haniff, who happens to be the Political Secretary of our Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin bin Mohd. Yassin. The guest of honour spoke on the excellent leadership and example shown by our Pengetua Cemerlang and YDP PIBG. Plus, he touched on the importance of Sports in schools and PPSMI. He conveyed a message from our DPM to the teachers and students of SU. The assembly ended with the guest of honour, VIPs and administrators walking around the stalls. Anyway, ill be back soon with another post of pics soon. Do remember that the PIBG Annual Dinner is tonight. Get a ticket and come to see the SU Band perform for the very first time plus the Talent Quest Finals are tonight too. So come on down, let your hair down and enjoy the night with SU...
